Several Richmond and Petersburg area knife makers made similar styles of knives, some for sale to the Government, but most for sale to soldiers themselves.  The most popular types included the small but practical "Camp Knife" (which we have done a Group Buy of before) and the much larger "Artillery Knife."  The name was simply a marketing term, and while many artillerymen (particularly officers) purchased them, at least one private in the 17th Virginia Infantry did as well.  His service record would indicate that he was carrying the knife in July 1863.

This reproduction of a Boyle & Gamble Artillery Knife will be made by Adam Daub to match the original, down to the B&G maker stamp we had made for our earlier run of Camp Knives.  A sheath is available for an additional charge.  While not cheap and certainly not required for the event, if you want a serious blade for your ANV infantry (or artillery) impression, or you just have to represent that private in the 17th who lugged one of these things to the picket line in July 1863, here you go.
