While a citizen's hat or plain blue grey wool Richmond cap will be just fine for Appomattox, various other kepis and especially miscellaneous artillery kepis are not going to fly.  If you would like an exact reproduction of the Richmond Clothing Bureau artillery cap produced in the last half of the war, however, Conor Timoney will be doing a run of them.  These will include a machine-bound oilcloth covered pasteboard brim, oilcloth chinstrap, oilcloth sweatband, osnaburg lining, and one of two color combinations of blue grey satinette (yes, satinette, not kersey) and red broadcloth body fabric (made by cutting entire caps from each color of fabric and mixing and matching the pieces).  And this is the cap you’ll want for another soon-to-be announced 2026 event too!
