From May 1864 until the end of the war, the Quartermaster's Department in Richmond contracted for and issued shelter halves to the men of the Army of Northern Virginia--nearly 30,000 of them. They were made from 27" wide cotton duck utilizing the selvedge in construction of the tent, included Gibson & Co. wooden buttons, and were entirely hand sewn--all things that make reproductions of the shelter half rather expensive. While they're certainly not a required piece of kit, if you've got everything and want something to really make a late war ANV impression stand out, here you go.
