Ordered into production by the Richmond Arsenal in May 1864, the cloth gun slings manufactured in the last year of the war were crude and utilized all sorts of mixed scrap leather. Reenactors have long used poor reproductions of this style of sling for their Confederate impressions. These reproductions are copied right from surviving originals.
We acknowledge up front that these gun slings are not the most versatile piece of equipment, being useful only for ANV impressions in the last year of the war. But if you really want to make your impression look late war Reb, here you go.
Originals were manufactured in two lengths as the use of a small piece of scrap leather for the adjusment holes limited how much they could be adjusted. Select either Springfield or Enfield length depending upon which gun you plan to attach this to.
